‘Arise My Love’
by Sharon Anderson
Dailey Street Baptist Church presented a moving
Easter play entitled “Arise My Love” for two
performances to large crowds.
Pastor Tim Smith welcomed everyone for both
performances and introduced his wife, Kristy, who
was this year’s director. The church worked as a
whole to put on the play with many working long hard
hours on sets and costumes as well as taking part in
the play itself, with several doing multiple parts.
Skyler Clark gave a moving performance as Jesus
which included walking on water, entering on a
donkey, the Lord’s Supper, Jesus’ prayer and arrest
in the garden, his trial, crucifixion and
resurrection and finally entering heaven to be sent
back by his Father. The audience was moved to tears
during the realistic crucifixion scene and cheered
at the end when Jesus announced his return from
heaven.
Kristy Smith, Cathy Posey and Trieste Wayman
performed several songs and the Youth Drama Team
“Forgiven” which includes Kristy Smith, Candace
Gilmore, Andrew and Laura Posey, Tyler and Angela
Lucas, Tiffany Murner, Aaron and Timothy Jones and
Melinda Nicholson performed at the beginning and end
of the play and did a great job!
The children of the church including Kalum, Logan
and Brianna Smith; Pamela Anderson; Jonathan, Thomas
and Mason Wayman; Madison Brown; Audrey Raulerson;
Ansley Stephens; Alexis Jenkins; Andrew, AJ, Kaelee,
and Scottie Poore; James and Brittany Hughes
welcomed Jesus with the song “Sing Hosanna”.
Other members of the cast included: Michael
Anderson, Gene Hughes, H.S. Law, Buster Parker,
David Law, John and Ann Meeks, James and Cindy
Bishop, Amanda Clark, Bobby and Arlene Minter, Marie
Hooper, Johnny and Misty Chastain, Vernon and Debbie
Ray, Rita Jo Parker, Treva Hanvey, Cathy Posey,
Angela Poore, Carl Autwell, Dennis and Joan Haney,
Faye Poore, Sandra Kelly, and Patricia Mason. Sharon
Anderson was the sound technician and Cathy Posey
did lighting.
Dailey Street BC has presented an Easter play for
several years now and with God’s help they hope to
continue this ministry for many years to come.

church.

Acteen Girls at Dailey Street
by Sharon Anderson
As usual, we have been busy here at Dailey Street Baptist Church. We
have many ongoing activities and events as well as special, seasonal
happenings to begin the year. Here are just a few of the events that
have happened lately.
The Acteen girls helped the Pastor with a special Valentine’s Day
Candlelight Memorial service during evening worship on Sunday. Brother
Tim Smith welcomed everyone and opened in prayer, read some scripture
and lit the trinity candles. He then turned the service over to Cathy
Posey, Acteen leader. She read scripture from Ecclesiastes then
introduced the girls; Laura Posey, Pamela Anderson, Angela Lucas,
Tiffany Murner and Ansley Stephens who each read different scriptures.
The girls then went to each pew and escorted members to the memorial
table to light a candle and say a few words about their loved ones.
Pastor Tim was the first and remembered his beloved grandmother by
telling how she had been such a blessing to him. He was followed by many
others paying tribute to those who have gone on to be with the Lord.
Some gave honor to those who are still with us and have been a blessing
also. Michael Anderson and Kristy Smith sang specials and the evening
closed with the song “I Will Find You.”
Our Youth and Drama Team have been really busy learning new songs and
dramas, hosting Youth Sunday and Youth Wednesday services, a Spaghetti
Supper, and delivering Valentines to members on Sunday morning. Brother
Jonathan Brooks was the speaker for both Youth services. The Drama Team
will perform two dramas in the upcoming Easter play which will be on
March 27 and 28 this year.
The Youth are a blessing to the church and include: Leaders; Skyler and
Amanda Clark and Kristy Smith; Laura and Andrew Posey; Candace Gilmore;
Tyler and Angela Lucas; Aaron and Timothy Jones; Tiffany Murner; and
Melinda Nicholson.
Our recent Praise Night was hosted by David Law and included
performances by the Drama Team, Skyler Clark, Jonathan and Amanda
Brooks, Brianna, Logan, and Kalum Smith, Candice Gilmore, Dot Ray,
Ansley Stephens, Angela Lucas and the Primary Discipleship Training
Class. Also singing were Bobby and Arlene Minter. This was Bobby’s debut
and he as well as everyone else did a fantastic job. After services
everyone stayed for a time of food and fellowship. Praise Night is held
during evening services each fifth Sunday.
The Children’s department participates in Children’s Ministry Day each
year and has chosen to work with the Buildings and Grounds Committee on
their church-wide workdays. This Thursday they joined committee members
H.S. Law, Dewey Morgan, Buster Parker, John Meeks and Skyler Clark by
doing some of the little jobs around the church. While the men handled
the big jobs, the children vacuumed song book holders, organized
supplies, returned items to classrooms and any other job appointed to
them. It was a great way to let them know what it takes to make the
church look the best it possibly can and how to keep it that way. The
Children’s Committee Chairman is Linda Morgan who brought treats for the
crew. Also present were: Rita Jo Parker, Ann Meeks, Cathy Posey, Kristy
Smith, Sharon Anderson, Arlene Minter and children: Pamela Anderson,
Tyler and Angela Lucas, Ansley Stephens, Alexis Jenkins, Kalum, Logan,
and Brianna Smith, Laura and Andrew Posey, Tiffany Murner, Aaron and
Timothy Jones and Dalton Amos. |
